After strongly bearish Thursday and Friday action on Arabica Coffee (ICE KC Sep14), where it had almost reached the 61.8% retrace (of the July 2nd half rally), KC powered ahead over 4% yesterday. The gains reversed all of Friday and much of Thursday’s downward slide, and positions it to resuming the longer term rally that began in the 2nd half of July. After a strong performance of over 4% in gains yesterday, Arabica Coffee (ICE KC Sep14) has reclaimed the 38.2% retrace level of the 2014 Jan-Apr rally. KC will likely experience a bit of profit taking today, but has now with an increasingly bullish weekly chart, laid a strong foundation for gains in the weeks ahead. The VIX (CFE VX Aug/Sep14) was under a bit of pressure yesterday reflecting the expected modest rise in the S&P500 (CME ES Sep14)….
Arabica Coffee (ICE KC Sep14) was a standout performer Friday, closing almost 5% higher. Although the daily chart now looks bullish, caution is in order after Friday’s strong spike higher, together with the still slightly bearish weekly chart.
